Ha participado en muestras colectivas como: Media Miniature, Pratt Manhattan Gallery, New York, 2006, MFA Show, Annex Gallery, New York, 2006 MFA Graduate Sculpture and New Media, Steuben Gallery, New York, 2006, Pintura sea lo que sea, Galería Cuarto Nivel, Bogotá, 2006, Salón Nacional de Artistas, Bogotá, 2006.

¿Qué entiende por hospitalidad?
Entiendo por hospitalidad la amabilidad y el acogimiento con que se recibe/acoge a alguien. Durante el medioevo el término de lo hospitalario se asoció con la acción de escoltar a los peregrinos en el camino hacia Jerusalén y por supuesto con lo hospitalario, es decir, el espacio para la sanación. Es casi inevitable no asociar la hospitalidad con el proceso sanatorio del término hospitalario. Por lo general ‘lo hospitalario’ implica una limpieza y orden especial; una cama bien tendida, una comida bien preparada; es decir, toda una serie de condiciones y cuidado para que el huésped se sienta tanto o mejor que en su propia casa. La hospitalidad es entonces medida no solo por la atención personal de los ‘anfi triones’ sino también por toda una serie de elementos que contribuyen a que el acto de acoger a alguien sea grato y placentero. Con el tiempo la medida de lo hospitalario se asocia con las facilidades para comunicarse, desplazarse y mantenerse en un lugar. La tecnología cobra un importante papel en este sentido. Un teléfono celular, un servicio ágil de Internet, una buena infraestructura de transporte es vital para que el desenvolvimiento del huésped sea rápido. Todo esto se asocia con la hospitalidad de un lugar, pues son los recursos que facilitan y de algún modo amparan al visitante de un lugar.
¿Su trabajo tiene relación con lo que acaba de expresar?
Pienso que sí y sobretodo por el interés por entender ciertas particularidades de la ciudad anfi triona del evento: Medellín. Pienso que con todos los proyectos incluidos en el Encuentro de Medellín sucede algo similar. El interés de los artistas y curadores por generar proyectos que sean sensibles con el espacio que los recibe y no simplemente la ubicación de propuestas que pueden estar en cualquier otro lugar.
Antioquia es una región de características muy particulares e históricamente se ha hecho conocer por una actitud recia y a la vez cálida hacia el visitante. En retribución a esto, considero que es indispensable producir proyectos con que respondan a esta misma actitud y sensibilidad con el entorno.
¿Es Medellín una ciudad acogedora? ¿Por qué?
Plenamente. Empezando por el transporte de metro que es indispensable en cualquier gran ciudad Colombiana. Cualquier visitante se fi ja en esto en primer lugar. La gente por otro lado tiene la tradición de ser muy amplia y amable. Todo el mundo habla y se comunica abiertamente y no es hermética. Es un respiro estar en Medellín.
¿Cree que el arte tiene alguna capacidad para generar una refl exión sobre las relaciones que se establecen con el otro?
A mayor tiempo para conocer esa ‘otredad’, más precisa y sensible será la manera en que entendemos y retratamos al otro. Para ir más allá de lo que es simplemente atractivo y pintoresco en un lugar desconocido o las actitudes de una comunidad que parecen extrañas al visitante, es indispensable establecer una comunicación sincera y generosa. Las diferencias son básicas para identifi carnos. Lo que conocemos como ‘otro’ / ‘el otro, no es más que nosotros mismos proyectados en los demás.
Todos somos parte de esa ‘otredad’. Los indispensable es entonces respetar y absorber la diferencia y con esto lograr no excluir todo aquello que no se asimile con nosotros sino por el contrario incluirlo y englobarlo con una serie de relaciones de comunicación.
