Tomás Saraceno nació en Tucumán en 1973. Vive en Frankfurt, Alemania. Es licenciado en arquitectura en la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Realizó estudios de postgrado en arte y arquitectura en Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste Städelschule, en Frankfurt.
Su trabajo se destaca por la relación que establece entre tecnología, geo-política y arte. Su proceso de experimentación con materiales ultralivianos de última tecnología y sus relaciones con profesionales en el campo de la física y la ingeniería, lo han llevado ha proponer proyectos que aunque en principio son utópicos, han podido realizarse, evidenciando problemáticas actuales relacionadas con confl ictos fronterizos, fenómenos del desplazamiento, la xenofobia y el desastre ecológico contemporáneo.
Algunos de sus proyectos se han mostrado en “Do-It”, www.e-fl ux.com/projects/do_it y “On-Air”, Pinksummer Gallery, Génova, Italia, en el año de 2004; en el ARC del Museo de Arte Moderno de París, Francia, y la Primera Bienal de Arte Contemporáneo de Moscú (2005), en Rusia, en la Villa Manin, Centro para el Arte Contemporáneo, en Italia; se destaca su participación en la Bienal de Sao Paulo de 2006. Además, ha participado en diversas charlas y encuentros teóricos en centros de investigación de instituciones como la Universidad de Buenos Aires, el Parque Balear de Innovación Tecnológica (ParcBit), en Palma de Mallorca, España, la Universität Kaiserslautern en Alemania y la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, en España.

“El primer museo suspendido en el aire, construido con bolsitas de plástico recicladas del mundo, vuela y se desplaza con energía solar y humana”.
Tomas Saraceno En este proyecto se plantea hacer volar un inmenso conjunto de bolsas reciclables a manera de un “Museo Volador”; se dice de Museo, pues se sugiere marcar, dibujar o intervenir, a manera de lienzo, con un marcador indeleble, las bolsas que se donen para el proyecto. Así, se obtendrá un museo de tamaño, forma, color y destino en constante crecimiento y movimiento: cuantas más bolsas, más se agrandará su colección.
De poblado a poblado, de país a país, de continente a continente, de sistema solar a lo inesperado, el Museo Aerosolar se irá desplazando e irá creciendo con el calentamiento del aire por parte del sol. Cada vez que aterrice se le agregarán más bolsitas y, de esta forma, se actualizará su forma y contenido, aumentando también su distancia de vuelo hacia la búsqueda de nuevas fronteras, cuestionando las existentes divisiones aéreas, geográfi cas y militares de nuestros países; será una manera alternativa de movilidad a la cada vez más in-sostenible contaminación de los aviones.

pasando de un encuentro virtual a un encuentro real y espacial en el aire, de un sueño personal a uno colectivo.
Para hacer parte del Museo Aerosolar, sólo debes de entregar todo tipo de bolsa plástica reciclable que tengas, en los sitios dispuestos para ello; en Medellín: La Casa del Encuentro, Cr 52A N° 52A – 29 (sede contigua al Museo de Antioquia); Instituto de Bellas Artes, Cr 42A N° 48 – 86; y Taller 7, Cra 41 N° 46 -67. Por fuera de Colombia se está haciendo la recolección de las bolsas en: Flugzeug Hanger, Flugplatz am Burghof 55 Bonamese/Kalbach, Isola dell’Arte - Isola Art Center stecca degli artigiani, via Confalonieri 10, Milano, Italy.
La construcción de este proyecto plantea que si la Torre Eiffel, las Pirámides de Egipto y la Muralla China fueron símbolos en su tiempo, para determinadas culturas, el Museo Aerosolar puede marcar un posible encuentro entre diferentes culturas, en el aire con el aire, un camino hacia otra responsabilidad de cohabitación, hacia otra arquitectura más sensible y aérea, hacia una forma diferente de construcción, más holística y más ecológica.
